FOUND: 1969 340 engine. EW340P25660179
Contact Mike at moparzone4@aol.com
Thanx Moparts! That is the engine serial number on the front of the block. To match it up to the car it came from, look for the numbers on the pad down low on the passenger side of the block & post them please?. Yes, please look for the VIN just above the oil pan rail on the passenger side, been looking for my 340 for 23 years now was last seen southwest of Indy...
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

Just finished another attempt to get the number. I thought I was just looking for a string of eight numbers, but there appears to be more.
The last eight look like "9B101795". I will try and get back at it with a wire brush again when able, but the engine is still in the vehicle so its hard to jet a clean shot of the number.
The engine is currently installed in a 1979 Ramcharger that I purchased from a California seller. It is obviously non-original because of both the casting date and the fact that 340's were not offered for 1979 Ramchargers.
The seller told be he picked up the engine at an Oregon/California race track where car owners pulled original engines out of cars to swap in big blocks for racing. Apparently they just dumped the engines. If so, I would imagine this was in the early 70"s, but I'm just guessing at this point.

A double stamp on a pad that missed the milling process, I would love to see a cleaner image! Full VINs were stamped early in the '69 model year, I see BH29P9B101795 so it is from a Barracuda fastback.

Not sure if this should go here, but going to give it a shot anyway. I had this pop up on my facebook feed today... Someone selling a few 18 spline 4spds... maybe he's on here too? It appears he is trying to find current car owners prior to selling them to just anyone. 1st one shown is for a 69 hemi road runner "RM23J9A169323"... the rest are pics listed in the comments https://www.facebook.com/groups/429104630593174/permalink/820436811459952/Hopefully it can be seen without logging into FB
