A friend of mine is having problems clearing the front of the K member on his 73 Charger with aftermarket oil pans. He's tried 2. The last one the sump clears but the front hits before the motor reaches the mounts. Looks like 440 source, milodon, etc list the same pan for 66 up. Is there a specific pan for the later rubber mounted K member? Thanks!

I believe you might need the small lesser quantity type pan, factory pan wise. The sump area is too far forward on 402 pan etc. A friend went through this. I have an F body and have a 187 type pan and it is close to K.

73 up pan is shaped differently in the front , listing showing 66 up being the same is not correct.

What pan is he trying to use ?

He needs the 971 pan..

Funny, I put a 7 quart Milodon on my 73 Charger without issue.

It's a 512 in a 400 block, and a aftermarket 7qt pan. It probably needs more than the 4 qt factory pan.

You never said that , how about a picture of where it's hitting , may just need a small tweak with a hammer to get it in ...

But then there is the issue with all that pan hanging out in space unprotected .... panic
