Vent open except when coded N95.
If it has N95, hose to a nipple on the three nipple valve cover breather. Barry I think you got that one wrong. If it's a N95 it goes to a 3 nipple breather If it's NOT a N95 it goes to a 2 nipple breather There are no CA 340 SIXPACK carbs

N95 got a 3 nipple, the rest got a single nipple breather. The hose from the large outlet on the breather is connected to a tube on the air cleaner base. This is my car with a single nipple breather and a picture I saved of a member's N95 car. Shake Where does your bowl vent go?

Vents to atmosphere. No hose. Agreed, vents to atmosphere, but never liked that on any of my sixpack cars, I always capped the bowl vent tube, no need to have a possible fuel leak/fire that could have been avoided...

If it's NOT a N95 it goes to a 2 nipple breather The two nipple breather for 1970 has one application - /6 engines with N95.

No 3 nipple on the valve cover and yes on the color as well as an automatic. Will check the code..... N94 is the Trans Am package. No N95 present, so you need a single nipple breather connected to the air cleaner base & leave the vent open to be factory correct.

Does this info apply to 1970 440-6 ebody? Yes and no. The non-California center carb does not have a nipple on it, it has a bowl vent. So non-CA uses a single nipple breather and CA the 3 nipple breather

Thanks tons for the info and the pictures. This car is soooo nice that I am going to also plug the bowl vent with a black, fuel capable plug and not that red vacuum plug. I am also very nervous about just letting it vent to atmosphere. I will just be sure to show the owner what I did and why.
I am replacing the center carb for one with the correct numbers. The one that was on the car was for a 4 speed car. Also, whoever installed these carbs was a hack. He had screwed up the flare nut on the rear line right at the carb inlet so bad that I had to make a replacement line. It looked like he installed it with a pipe wrench. :0

I've been plugging (capping) the vent (tube style)for decades, dosen't effect operation/performance.... Mike
