They are different part number for 1976-1978, starting with new number '79 model year.

They look like the mounting holes are in same spot. Can I use a 1976-1978 one on my '79 Truck? They are available NOS in the 1976-78 one but not '79 one, that's why I ask.

Thanks,

Larry

79 got the new contour of hood. Maybe that's the reason?

Hmm, true. Seems like '79 hood has more room than earlier ones, so the earlier one would still fit though. shruggy

On closer inspection of the shape and not just mounting holes, it does look like the cut out for the radiator cap is non-existent on the earlier ones.

I think that they are different because the core support is different where the hood latch is because of the cable release vs. external. twocents

Is anyone reproducing these overflow tanks? I have a 1978 model.
Thank you!

No one is making the 78's - NOS are still available but EXPENSIVE now. 79's are reproduced
