Anyone remember this line of cams from the early 70-s?

They kinda look like cheater street strip cams that go just a bit harder then oem units.

If you look at this pic, the very bottom cam listed they have a adv 284 dur cam thats only rated 225@50 but 284 adv.

Almost look like a whiplash cam spec on the low 225@50 but not as bad.

The pic also shows there chart as to what there cam does better?

Im trying to figure out whats behind there hype here or if it would perform better then others.

Yes I know, old tech, older then even the purple lifter eater cams.

Whats your thoughts?

Had one similar in my 69 RR 383 4 speed. Kept kicking pushrods till I used adj Isky rockers. Last time it kicked the pushrod, lost oil pressure and piggy backed a rod bearing. Still have the 383 & 4 speed, car long gone, to my dismay.
Has manly pistons, pop ups.

From what I remember about them....... they were just another source for the “white box specials” coming out of the big cam suppliers(camshaft machine, etc).

Not much lift with just a little more duration than the old hemi cams, I believe they were 222 @ .050.

Have a great day

Yea I dug out some other older cams, and its like fast68 said more or less, just another shelf came, alot like some of the blue racer cams, and then the cranes.

Its got some things in common with a mopar cam, its like a easy slap in cam thats a lil hotter then the 340 cam.

I got a few sets of the manley version of the mopar rockers that are listed in the 73 book.

No better way to find out how junk really ran back in the day then to use parts from that time period.

Not sure what you are looking for but I stuck the biggest Summit cam for a small block in my 360. Runs very good but does not sound like it has a cam in it. Real smooth with 14* initial and 35* total on the mechanical.

Manley sold this stuff under their name but they where rebranded from other manufacturers. The Manley stamped pistons I have are just TRW and I bet those rockers are Isky's. Common practice back in the day.

I just got alot of old school parts stashed away and ive two stroker motors in two of my cars, freshen a few up a year for friends and im actually just having fun working with a couple low power buids with oem blocks and head castings to see how things run and what I can do to improve on them.

I dont recall a day when very young that a warmed over mill still didnt make for a decent time.
