RIP Always a fan of the Snake and Mongoose, great rivalry. Loved the movie a few years ago.

Although NHRA always qualifies racers by National Event wins, McEwen was old school, could drive just about anything, was a frequent draw at SoCal tracks back in the '60s, and was indeed colorful and funny. He drove among other things the original '65 HemiCuda, which flipped at the big end at Lions. Didn't seem to faze him much. He drove & won in an era when the cars were truly lethal, aero help wasn't available, and huge "attachments" were required.

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

The Hot Wheels rivalry was HUGE for the sport of Drag Racing, tens of thousands of baby boom 8 and ups probably saw thier first funny car from the Mongoose/Snake commercials.

There will never be another like him and the sport of Drag Racing owes him especially ( Prudhomme admittedly wasn’t the marketing guy) a huge debt of gratitude.

Now he is reunited with his beloved son, God speed, Goose!!
