I purchased mopar offset hangers and offset shackles for a 73 Cuda. I installed them with mopar super stock springs which I was under the impression was a matching system. Now my set up is 2 inches or so too short. Everything bolts up but the rear shackles are all the way forward and the rear spring eye is touching the bottom of the frame rail.
My question is, did I buy the wrong offset hangers? Is there an extended offset hanger for superstock springs on an ebody? Does anyone know the part number if so?

Thanks,

Reggie

Did your SS springs come with a front relocated perch (yes you have the inboard relocation, but is it for SS spring use?, IIRC the E body SS spring application requires a new front relocated perch, because the springs are short and the relocated perch moves the spring rear ward (springs are originally designed for A body application)...

MP super stock springs have A-body dimensions. The front half of super stock springs is 20 inches long, which is 2 inches shorter than a stock E-body spring. MP sells 2 inch longer extended offset front hangers to use with the shorter springs. If the offset hangers you have are short like the originals, that's your problem.

That was my assumption but I can't find a part number for the longer front offset hangers. I thought that is what I bought but they aren't long enough. Anyone have a part number?

The best I can do for you is the following, as I don't know exactly what your trying to accomplish?

IF you want to run the SS springs AND also OFF SET hangers to move the springs inboard you need MP kit# 4120078 for the front spring perches and MP kit# 4120076 for the rear shackles, IF you are running the stock WIDTH E body rear axle?, you'll need to remove and relocate/reweld the AXLE perches INBOARD on the axle, OR install a STOCK WIDTH 67-70 B-Body rear end as that will BOLT-IN on the relocated front spring perches and offset rear shackles

IF you want to keep the E body STOCK WIDTH rear end, with no mods to the AXLE perches AND use the SS SPRINGS, you'll need MP front perch kit# P4120080 and you'll use the stock E body rear shackles...

Would be nice to know what kind of "offset" your looking for?, positive or negative regarding the back spacing of the intended tires/rims

FYI, I don't know if the MP PN#s are still available, or superseded?... DrDiff.com offers a lot of spring and axle options/parts that would probably be your best source for better quality parts to accomplish your SS spring install to the criteria you desire...

Hope this helps?
Mike

Thank you. I have a 67 b body rear and want the offset and to use the ss springs. I got offset perches and shackles and ss springs, the perches just weren't extended like I thought I was buying. Thanks for the part numbers.

Actually I just checked and that is the offset perches I already have. They are the standard length for regular springs not the shorter super stock springs. I'll check what Dr Diff offers. Thanks again.

you could put a 2"spacer behind the perches, 2x3 or 2x4 3/16 or 1/4"wall tubing.

these have the hole pattern offset, since you have the offset hangers your hole pattern would be inline.

Bolt in offset spring hangers for SS springs do not exist. You can choose 1" offset for stock length springs or standard location SS spring hangers.

The 3" relocation kit will accomodate SS springs, as they weld into the frame rail.

IMO, use the 1" offset kit. Mount your stock length main leaf, re-drill and re-stack your SS leafs under the original main leaf without using the SS main leaf. #2 SS leaf tip should center under the front eye of the main spring, and then everything else stacks under it as aligned like the SS pack orientation. That way you get the offset, a longer main leaf, and SS spring action. This is an old class racer trick outlined in the Mopar Suspension Manual for cars that are required to maintain original mounting locations. Its well established and proven effective.
