I am installing a pusher fan and was wondering if there is a preferred place for max cooling? Should I bias the fan toward the inlet or the outlet of the radiator? I have a theory just want to hear from others.
Yes I know that a puller fan with a shroud is best but in my situation there is no room on the engine side.

Thanks,

You dont need to bias it.. just make sure it
isnt restricted

Thanks Mr_P_Body.
No restrictions. There is plenty of space in front of the radiator just no place for the fan on the engine side.

this may seem odd, but i have tried the bias of a pusher fan on several different installs toward the inlet, then the outlet. some have had no difference, some have favored the outlet over the inlet, some the opposite. this makes me think airflow coming in the grille, and how well the hood/radiator seal is, affects the results. your mileage may vary.

Not very scientific but I watched with an infrared hand held gun and there usually seems to be a turbulence hot spot on the radiator. This seems not to differential between copper or aluminum radiators. Placing a fans air projection at that spot solved some overheating issues. Looking at some of the 4 and 6 cyl newer motors ans it is very interesting that the radiator is almost as small as the A/C condenser. These motors are designed to run at that 190*-195* realm. Is it time to re-think cooling on drag cars?

The ideal condition with a pusher fan is to make sure your radiator is well over-sized to accommodate that you're blocking air flow with a front-mounted fan.
