Do all small blocks have the small angled piece of sheetmetal that directs oil onto the timing chain, or did they do away with it at some point? My 71 has the drilled bolt in the upper passenger side cam plate hole for oiling, and does not have the sheetmetal piece. The parts book for 71 doesn't look like it lists it either. Thanks in advance.

Yes at some point they went from the 1/8" hole in the upper pass bolt to the tray (might of been the other way around) & you can drill that hole in your bolt & have both & I cant say if t chains are hurtin for oiling but guys have tapped the front of the pass horizontle gallery for an aluminum 3/8 NPT pipe plug & drilled a .015" hole in it for a constant squirt out onto the chain & be sure the pipe plug does not go in far enough to block the down feed to the main & drill a 3/8 hole in the cam plate so the oil can shoot out.

Dura-bond FKP-1 block hardware kit has the drip tab included. These were used from around 1975 and up.
