I have a 1992 Dakota (orginally v-6) I have installed a v-8 with MSD 6al. The factory tach works but is off a bunch. I expected that. My plan was to find a v-8 Dakota and get the cluster but there are few to be found local. Is it possible to recalibrate the current unit to work correctly? Anyone have experience to share? Thanks

Easier just to buy an aftermarket tach.

It has to be somethign with the MSD or just a bad tach, the ecu sends the signal to the tach, same signal from V6 or V8 computer unlike the old tachs that were counting sparks it will not need calibrated. I have swapped motors like that and clusters for various issues and never had an issue with tachs.
