I have what I believe to be a 1969 340 engine.
It has a casting #2780930-340-5
date of 12.11.68
on the block above the oil pan on pass. side is 9P297504 . The second digit is hard to read. I believe it is a "P" but maybe "B" or "E".
Anyway I know this is the right place to inquire if anyone knows it's here on Moparts.com.

Thanks for any help

Bennoel

P is out.

1969 E (LA) VINs did not go that high, so that leaves 9B 297504

So if I am understanding correctly, your saying its not an (LA), meaning Los Angeles? So correct me if I'm wrong 9= year, B= assembly plant and 297504 is the sequential order of the vehicle? I was wondering if there is a way of telling what it came out of? I'm sure it would be a dart, GTS or barracuda as at this time they were only in A-bodys.

Thanks for the help

Yes, it has to be from a Dart or Barracuda model.

I do not keep track of 1969 Hamtramck built cars, but someone that does may have more input for you.
