What do I need to run my 340 on a stand before installing it in the car. I took it out a couple of years ago and put on new gaskets etc and I want to run it first before putting it back in to make sure no leaks etc. What is the simplest way to make this happen?

You are going to need a flywheel and a bell housing to mount your starter so you can start it. You don't want it to overheat so you need a way to cool it. I have started and run engines that were sitting on the floor. The only thing wrong with that is you can't run them very long that way. I suppose you could run a garden hose into the thermostat housing.

I made a run stand out of the front frame of an old class C motorhome. Hmm, I wonder if I should sell it.

I’m wondering about wiring up the coil, starter, ignition box etc. Any tips on that?

Have a board that the coil, dual and/or single resister, ecu, switch with relay, installed on, and they are wired all the time. Just run a long wire from coil center to dist. center tower. Have a bypass circuit to bypass the ecu if your dist. is a points dist., or if you plan on using a points dist. someday.

Then all you need is the ground, and fuel line. The starter is wired the same as in car with the battery close by the starter.

there was a thread on his a week or so ago & someone posted a tailor made stand that can be purchased (online iirc) that was cheap that you could add more to it for a transmission in the rear & a radiator in the front. for a new eng breakin you would want to be able to load the eng to seat the rings but for your deal I'd get some angle iron & your chop saw & fab one up & bolt it together then have your welder weld it. A flat panel in the front to mount some gauges/switches etc. the MP basic race car wiring schematic might be in the archives.

Made my own out of a small utility trailer, still has wheels and trailer tongue so I can tow it around.
