Best way is to remove from the bottom. yep,, leave the spindles and upper control arms in place. Pull the fan and pulleys and you can leave the radiator in place. I take K frame , front suspension , engine and trans out as one unit. getting it lowered past an H pipe exhaust can be a bit of a hassle but not terrible. So much easier this way ,,IMO

I have always pulled my motors out the top with the hood off....but then again, I wasn't worried about scratching new paint

On a '68 B body, I'd be surprised if you can get the motor out w/ the hood still on.
