Hi all,

In the process of rebuilding my '71 Satellite front suspension, and discovered one of my struts is slightly bent. Looks like it's between 1/8" and 5/32" off center:

Opinions? Can I use as is? Should I find a good used one? Or just have it straightened? Thanks for weighing in.

Roger

i wouldn't worry too much about that bend, but look real closely at the control arm and the area in the k-member where the strut rod bolts up. make sure nothing is bent or deformed.

I think it is usable as is or you can try to straighten it a little. Bent strut rods and not uncommon. One thing you can say is a bent strut rod is a shorter strut rod which increases the positive caster.

Have yet to see an oem one that wasn't bent at least a little.

Can you even buy new stock ones?

Thanks, guys.

My LCA looks okay, as does the K-member. I've not seen any new, OE type, struts for sale. I may just go ahead and run this one as is. Thanks for the help.

They often had a bend or at least "dog leg" as new. Looks OK for use to me.
