New Jeep has auto stop/start, has anybody figured out a way to disable this permanently?

My wife's Cherokee has a button on the dash marked A that shuts it off but she has to hit it every time she starts the car. One thing to know about the s/s is if it starts showing a notice on the instrument cluster that it can't work because the battery is charging it's time to replace the battery. Also your fuel milage will drop about a mile per gallon when the battery starts to go bad because the charging system works all full blast all the time. Her factory battery lasted a little over two years.

I found this on a jeep site. http://jeepgarage.org/f156/solution-to-disable-auto-start-stop-185234.html

Guy on the same site is selling a plug in that disables it for $125.

Problem with unplugging the hood switch is that it may disable emergency equipment like the air bags etc. because it makes the computer think the hood is open.

This is a Compass, I found the hood switch, but not going to unhook unless I know it won't affect anything else. I emailed the guy that has the plug in thing, but it is just for Grand C, so, waiting to see if he has something for the Compass.

If it has remote start, that function will no longer work if it thinks the hood is open.

If you disconnect the hood latch switch the remote start will not work but if you disconnect the plunger hood switch it will work but you are back into the who knows what else won't work stage.

Will the wipers work correctly if the hood switch is disabled?

When I had a hiccup with the hood switch on my Mercedes the wipers didn't function properly. The'd only work with the car at speed and the wiper speed was not adjustable.

Security systems will be disabled as well on most systems with a hood switch. I would not be concerned with the safety systems like airbags or any other SRS belt functions because most of those systems are on a separate buss.
I would think that a simple push of a button when you start the car wouldn't be that unreasonable shruggy

Every time you get in your car, start the engine, and then you have to push another button, every single time you drive. It gets old. Oh, and another stupid part of the function, when you pull in to a parking spot, the engine dies, and then when you put it in park, the engine starts up again. The starter, and battery have to be over worked with stuff.

Another reason I stick to pre-2005 Grand Cherokees with the 4.0.....simple and no touch screens or fancy electronics stuff. I would like side airbags though.

Is it that irradiating? My wife drives a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The gas engine is turning on and off all the time and I don't even notice anymore.

Why did I buy it? I never even heard of stop/start until we bought this Jeep. It's not on all of them, it is part of some optional package.
