10% on steel, 25% on aluminum. I voted for the guy, now he's got me worried. All those cheap(er) Chinese parts, are they going to be affected? Add 25% to the 440Source and Sidewinder and ProComp heads, 10% to almost every stroker crank and set of aftermarket rods that average guys put in their hot rods. I'm hoping it's only raw material but who knows?

Does anyone have a line on the fine print or hasn't it been finalized?

Don't do us dirty, Donald!

I'm waiting for the firestorm.......

i thought the rates were 25% steel and 10% aluminum.
so add 25% to cranks and rods and 10% to the heads...if that's how it works.

i heard this morning, that 75% of the steel used in the US is actually US made steel. so these tariffs. seem strange.

I'm more worried about other countries imposing tariffs in return and then bam...a trade war.

we shear coils where I work. Used to be mostly Weirton Steel since they are in town. We never ran Wheel Pitt, and no one seems to know why. Then Arclor Mittial took over Weirton Steel. Quality went down. Same with USS coils. We get a lot of Korean and German coils, and a bit of Tata (Holland). All the foreign steels had very good quality. So the Tarriff may hurt.

This topic is off limits if both sides are heard, and according to Moparts past policy, you'll have to wait 2+ more years before this can be addressed, if we make it. laugh2

We will just have to wait and see how it all plays out, but of course the plan is to have U.S. companies buy all their steel and aluminum from other U.S companies , therefore create more U.S jobs and pump more cash in to the U.S.A. and stop pumping up the economies of foreign countries with U.S dollars , when we need to keep that money right here to help OUR economy.

Five of the top 11 exporters of steel to the US are my five biggest customers. Brazil (number 2), Mexico (Number 4), Turkey (number 6), China (Number 10), and India (Number 11).

Together, they account for approximately 85% of my annual revenue.

You're GD right I'm worried.

And in case you weren't aware, the top exporter of steel to the USA is Canada. About 17% of the steel that we import comes from Canada. We import more of our steel from Canada than we do from China, India, Taiwan, and Turkey COMBINED.

In terms of the consumer level, and ignoring the possible LARGE effects (good and bad) of tariffs, it's important to realize we're talking about 10%/25% on the cost of Material!

So what's the aluminum cost in a set of Aluminum heads? Maybe $50??? Just guessing. So the tariff would be $5.

Steel cost in a crank? $30. So the tariff would be $7.50

Don't know, haven't heard yet. Kinda surprised that hasn't been stated. I would guess a couple hundred bucks on a foreign rig.

No politics so with that said that given the presidents negotiating style I think he put the tariff issue out to jerk people’s chain

Other countries have been imposing tariffs on US-made goods all along - we are starting to level the playing field with this latest move. I believe this will force more competition among players in the US & I think Trump is anticipating this. I'm for it.

I'm all for the tariffs, hopefully this is just round #1 on imports, ...as far as steel/stainless and other alloys, I only have a limited number of vendors that I like to deal with for my employer that only stock/supply steel from US sources or Canadian as an alternative, the steel from the likes of Turkey, SA, India and Mexico is pure crap that I refuse to use, China is hit or miss for structural/machining alloys....unfortunately Japan is about the only source for quality Surgical grade 440 stainless
