I'm guessing you are asking about a 408" small block? For the cost to convert to a small block I'd just go through the 440. Even if you had the block and a good transmission the cost of the build will be more than the 440 rebuild. 100% agreed.

Yep, if it were mine I would just stay with the 440. Too much involved to swap everything to small block status. Engine/trans/radiator/driveshaft..blah blah..

I'll bet you have a lot more invested in your small blocks to do it. Be very careful with your money, Dan's cars run very hard. With iron heads I might add.
