Can anyone point me to a decent/easy motor mount bracket solution for someone installing SB 318/360 magnum engine in place of an LA 318 in a stock 68 B-body? The magnum engine my friend is installing has the old 340/360 style mounting ears of course.

On the drivers side, you need the 340 bracket . . . ask me how I know - 360 in my 70 sport satellite. The 340 bracket moves to the other side of the mounting ear on the 360. My car was originally a 318.

Could probably modify the 318 bracket. Thought it was just one hole that wasn't there.

Nope . . . the 340 is different . . . (drivers side) . . .

I thought the 318 one is just narrower, so people used spacers.

340-360 B/E body engine mounting brackets, same as 1971-1972-1973 C-body 360
you can use 318 brackets in a pinch. the passenger side is always the same on those bodies/engine series/the drivers side for a 340-360 is narrower to match the ears on the engine block. its only the top bolt on one side that is narrower, bolt up the 318 drivers side mount to the 340-360 block using the holes that line up....you will see a small gap between block ear and mount hole which can be made up with washers or a cut down alternator spacer. the rubber insulators are the same for all b/c/e v8s

i used to buy&sell these mounts for over 30 years so i do have some knowledge regarding fitment.

early 273 318 b&c body passenger side bracket with only 3 mounting holes, you have to drill the 4th hole in the middle of the bracket straight across from the hole on the other side to bolt correctly to a 340-360

318 poly 63-65 bbody mounts which you can use to bolt in a 392 Hemi in any 63-64-65 bbody! same bolt pattern on engine block as a 318 poly!
