I recently bought a 71 RR with a 415 stroker motor and dual quads. The guts of the Air Grabber were removed to make room for the 415 Stroker. The Air Grabber is held in the "up" position with a few screws that I can remove. I'd like to make the Air Grabber functional with a small servo motor. Does anyone have any ideas on how to attach a small electric or hydraulic motor with a switch inside the car so that I can raise/lower the AG? Thanks.

easiest thing comes to mind is a window lift motor off a ricer. 12 volt and something you could find in pull a part. get a switch and a pigtail off the same car.Unsure of what make would have a usable mechanism and not a cable or tape drive...but even those could work.Good luck bud!

I think I would see if one of those power trunk latches has enough movement. Some of the Caddy's & Lincolns had a couple inches of travel. You could connect one between the hood and the scoop door. Gene

If you're on Facebook, join the '71 - 74 roadrunner/charger owners group' page. There is a post from Ronny Conklin on February 22, 2018, describing exactly what you're looking for. He did it with a remote control car servo.

Mike.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look into these options. Please keep the ideas coming.

I know you're looking for a servo, but why not just hook up the air grabber the way the factory did???? I mean, because you're motor is a stroker doesn't make it any larger on the outside.

Unless I'm missing something (?) you could just put the air grabber stuff back in & have it work like the factory intended. The ONLY thing I would be concerned about is the carb/carb spacing on the intake manifold & the overall height of the intake.

Your hood closes, right? The air grabber box is in there, right? If not, then "maybe" consider an old 413 dual quad cast iron intake or an Offenhauser low-rise dual quad intake.

The only big question I have is, "Will a hemi dual quad air grabber air cleaner fit my dual quad carbs?" I thought about running a dual quad on my '70 Roadrunner many times, but never had a hemi air cleaner base (or knew the carb spacing) to check. As long as the hemi air grabber base fits your carbs & your hood closes, you can run a factory air grabber setup.

The factory spacing for the carters is real close together, too close for holley 600's. Depends on your DQ manifold, but most of those I have seen were set up with the wider spacing to accept either carter, (eddy) or holley with the side hung bowls (600 single feed style). I have the stage 5 on my 572 and butchered a repop 'glass AG base and mated it with two cheap aluminum drop bases from jegs. FHO has a real nice metal (IIRC) base for stage 5 intake but it's like 550.
