Doing a father son resto on my son's 1972 cuda. Want to change out front drums over to disc brakes. Friend gave my son a power brake booster but said should have it gone thru. My buddy tells me I should replace the upper A arms with a tube style. He also said to replace the torsion bars with a better one. While I'm doing this I need to replace the rear springs. So with this all being said , sure could use some help and input. The car will run a small block 360 magnum ( trying to learn about using this 2002 motor). Its stick car. Not sure what gear yet. At this point to save money, will keep drums on rear but may put 11" vs the 10" that's on it now. so feel free to send me emails if want or advice or parts. thanks Phil par12730@sbcglobal.net have a post in the restoration section asking about other things if want to give me advice.

You should look into Firm Feels Suspensions packages or the Hotchkiss TVS system if you want a solid matched system thats proven to make a huge difference. Plus you can install these kits at home.

I think that a vision for where you want the car to be is the first step. What are your goals for the 'Cuda? What kind of budget are you looking at? Are you planning to do this all at once?

Firmfeel and Hotchkis are great places to start but you can almost certainly piece together a comparable system for less money.

By the way, which manual trans are you running with your Magnum?

You could find some factory disc brake spindles from a 73 and up E or A body, and use all factory stuff. Using those spindles, you could get some 11.75 rotors, find some caliper adapters for pin type calipers, and use factory calipers. The back brakes will be fine like they are. If there's nothing wrong with your upper control arms....put new bushings and ball joints in them and use them. There are a few places you can buy a flywheel that is balanced for the Magnum, and has the notches cut in it to trigger the ignition. Hotwire Auto in Arkansas sells a conversion harness to use the EFI that is already on the Magnum. Good luck. up

Got the Cuda back today from the blaster. All in primer now. Going to weld in new torque boxes and frame ties. my friend wants me to get adjustable upper A arms cause he said he didn't have enough adjustment left for alignment. But boy are they expensive. Question was brought up about what transmission going to run. Car was a 3 speed but looking for a 4 speed and shifter and linkage. Hope the crank on the 360 magnum motor is drilled for a manual trans!! motor still in 2002 van and running ,waiting to get a chance to strip it out and sell. Looking for spindles. Thanks for the Hot wire tip. Going to look up, have to compare it to Fitech and intake. any tips on the resto PLEASE drop me a line at par12730@sbcglobal.net everyone thanks for all the heads up and inputs !!
