I have reproduction 1970 Cuda door glass that was purchased in 2007. This glass is etched with the date code and the PPG logo. This glass was originally purchased from an auto glass company in Michigan by the previous owner of my car. I am trying to install the glass and it will not fit properly, it appears that the curvature of the glass is too flat and does not match the curvature of the front window track. The glass binds up and will not roll completely up or down because the glass comes into contact with the front window track at the top of the glass.

Has anyone had or heard of others that have had fitment issues related to reproduction door glass? Should I assume that just because there is a PPG logo on the glass, this may not have been manufactured by PPG? Who is the best vendor to purchase accurate date coded door glass from?

Thanks.

lay the glass down on a bench arch of glass facing up. If you have a yard stick , lay it across the glass from top of glass to bottom of glass. With the yard stick there or just use a straight edge , measure from the center of the glass to the bottom of the yard stick and see how deep you arch in glass is. This will only confirm you where correct on the glass being to flat or not. if you don't have the original glass to compare it to I have mine and can give you the measurement on what it should be!

I just ordered my glass from ecs a few days ago!

I seem to remember this was an issue with some repop side glass a while back..It created some tension between the middleman and the buyer...And you would assume correctly just because an etched logo was applied wouldn't make it fit any better.. twocents

Thank you, I am calling ECS tomorrow and see what they tell me about the quality of their glass. I live about 5 miles from ECS,I am going to ask if they will look at my glass or let me match it up to piece they have to verify the correctness of the shape.

I had some old repro glass for my driver side 70 Challenger and I had the opposite issue. It was a bit too curved. No problem with it going up and down, but the wind noise/air leak/water leak was bothersome. I ended up getting an AMD glass and it fit real good. Got it from good ole Mopardave.
