Need the experts on numbers.
I have a 727 b trans, build date is Oct 68. After looking in my 69 service manual the vin is weird, the reason for this post. Vin- WH23F9A20095 book said 69 only did the whole vin on case.
Coronet 440 high end two door hardtop, the F is what gets me, SM says F is a 318 but trans is for a big block (I know the difference). Is this a common mistake or am I reading it wrong? Case serial # PK2892091L 2633

My book shows that case number as 1968 A or B body 383.

Is that the serial # or the vin #
My 69 build sheet called for the 091 case for the 383 too. The reason I bought it.

is it missing a digit of the sequence number?

I've seen other "typos" - one 727 was "XS29F9xxxxxxx" - I'll have to see if I can find it - must've been stamped on Friday

Yea meant to mention that, only 5 numbers, I'm thinking that explains the F too.

If you have an A Body with a 383 the 091 is correct, if you have a 440 the 093 is correct. From Aug to late Dec early Jan of 69 it got the full vin number. I be that F is a H if you look real close.

Can't hear and can't see, but it still have 3 teeth to eat with. LOL. Never thought of spreading that pic out to see it like a microscope.
Any idea on the F ? If that F is for the engine?

the part number is probably correct, wrong part number stampings would've caused chaos

Yep, pop was a supervisor (he was 26) in Flint at Fisher Body, Buick, said half couldn't read and the other half couldn't write. LOL
