I didn't mention the car to actually buy and build it. Just to show you what other options are available. Basically get the lightest quality car you can and have fun. Even a dragster or roadster would be good deals to go as fast as you want.

I've been thinking about a dragster for myself to bracket race, and use my challenger for no prep type stuff.

It's hard to paint a car so fugly that it even looks bad in the dark, but dean, NAILED IT.... boogie
38k minus 10k for new paint.

If you buy a dragster double down and buy a chevy engine. That's the smart move.

I'm not opposed to a GM based BB. Although the only dragsters I like are these Spitzer cars. This pic is Andy Spiegel at Sonoma. The car went 6.52@207 on this pass. This is an ex Schmidt 4.84 BS with two carbs. The 60 was 1.01 with the back tires. He later built a 669" 5.0 BS wedge that went 6.44 at Phoenix with a single carb N/A. That pass was .953 60'!!! He would definitely help me if I decided to go that way. I'm not really a dragster guy though I want to drive one at some point.

having had a few friends go the "piperack" route, you'd be far ahead with the GM based stuff..... at that point it just doesn't matter..... although mine would have a W8 small block laugh2

so are you chasing this spring Dave?

Thanks tboomer! This is exactly why I'm so torn. I just want to change the game a little as I'm not that excited about S/ST or Super Pro. Although S/P would be awesome with a faster car!

Lots of options Dave many presented here. Sell it and buy something else, lots of cars out there for sale and most go unadvertised on the net but are out there.

Next buy a welded 4130 25-1 chassis RJ, Haas, Bickel all sell them. Prices range from $7500 and up depending on options.

Since you have a 7.50 cert just build more HP for what you have. Not like what you have is an exotic piece. Its a good reliable bracket piece. You can build a good reliable 1000hp piece and go well faster than your cert at the weight you have.

In the end ALL options cost money. You know how I am about most cars, they are just a tool. If you have a specific goal in mind then you need the right tool for the job. I sold my old car for two reasons. Someone wanted it first and foremost. I was not selling he was buying. Secondly like you I accomplished what I wanted with the car and did not see it fitting in where I wanted to go next. So I moved on and have not looked back. Just need to get back home so we can get it to the track. This summer we should be out making passes in it.

S/P is great but you will be racing against a bunch of dragsters.
I am not a dragster guy either, I hate anything with a T stop.
I like the idea of keeping my challenger at the fast limit of pro, and a dragster to go head to head against dragsters in S/P.

No. Not last year either. What about you Jay? You going down the long division trail? It's a super fun deal to go to all the races. If you can afford it...If you go to all the races, at least in Div.7, you're going to finish top 20 probably...History has shown that if you win two you are going to be top 3 and most likely champion.

Dave why not rip the box and stop off the car. Step on it a bit and set it up to run high 8s/bottom 9s and go bottom bulb racing.

That would change things up a bit, and maybe make it fun again without breaking the bank.

I like your car and think you will miss it if you sell it.

I know a lot of guys chase the National event trail to win a trophy for the mantle at a very high cost with travel cost and entry fees but at least for us east coast guys big dollar bracket Racing is where it’s at. Footbrake, Top bulb, and bottom bulb races are almost held weekly

Winning a divisional or national is like winning a big bucks race. The competition is nothing but bada$$ cars. Redding, Sacramento and Sonoma are all within easy distance for me too. They all schedule differently so it's easy to attend. We have a couple bucks races with Spring Fling Vegas and the Figspeed race at Fontana. Utah is quite the haul for me but they have one more left before they go away. Bottom bulb is something I've thought about and may give it a shot.

I second the bottom bulb idea.
