From the deck of the head up is 1.820" and from the top down is 1.860". I believe the holes in the gaskets are wrong, as I have 4 sets here all the same. All you have to do is take a gasket punch, 3/8", move it up over the upper portion of the hole in the gasket and elongate the gasket hole. No biggie.I'd be way more concerned with the gasket centered on the port than the mismatched bolt holes. The gaskets will be glued to the heads anyhow, so the bolt holes elongations or location is a non issue.

The intakes need porting to blend anyhow, so thats not un common. This one has a Indy cast tunnel ram, so I had planned on doing that anyhow. If you have a sheet metal tunnel ram, then you may have another issue. I'd do what you have to on the intake to make proper port alignment. Without seeing it, I can only guess what you have. I had mocked this one up sometime back and I knew I'd have to do some alignment work, but its really not a big deal. Again, I dont know what your working with.

Hear r some pic's of my prob.

when I line up bolt holes I need more gasket not good.
When I line up ports bolt holes r way off.

Problem is my intake is the same as my gasskets they line up all the way around.

JoWeTu_6

Mine are the same. I am using 2 sets of gaskets, to raise the intake. Like in your second pic, the gaskets and the heads, and the intake too, all are the same size, just have to elongate the holes in the gaskets and the intake to raise it up to the head port. Kinda goofy, but not too bad of a fix.

My intake is the same as my gasket, so the top of port needs grinding. it's way off my runners are misalined in relationship with my bolt holes, it's ggoing back for fixing.

Thanx for everything you guys: JoWeTu_6

The gasket we use comes with slots in the bolt holes and has a Ray Barton stamp on it.

If I remember rightly on our old 440-3 manifold (circa 1998) we had to add material to the bottom of the runner (about 1/8 inch) then removed the same from the top of the runner. It left it thin at the top but seemed to seal OK. We also elongated the holes on the manifold. When I asked Hensleys, Southlands and Bartons, I got the impression this is normal with these heads. Best is a custom intake but at $3K+ I couldn't justify it. The 440 - 3X needed very little port matching in comparison and was a much better fit all round.
Hope this helps

Hope this helps.
