The engine has a casting number, casting date, displacement and assembly date stamps as well as the VIN stamp. Use all of them to tell you what you have. The transmission has a part number, date stamp and sometimes a VIN. Once again, use all of the numbers to zero in on what you have.

Alaskan_TA Fluffy Balladeer A Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 29,650 Hamtramck, PA	The 0E trans if from a 1970 model year car built at LA, could be from a B or E-body. The 0D block is also from a 1970 model, but from a C-body.
