Sounds like he got off easy in the fine dept.
Not that agree one iota with the officers discretion or lack of.
I wonder what the registered weight was, and if the truck was commercially titled and/or insured?

Does this fall under the "No good deed goes unpunished" thought line?

We all know they have a miles width of discretion, more times then not ive been on the good/lucky/broad end of it.

Maybe Christmas was not the officers favorite holiday, but not many look down on helping others in any form.

Just needs to take it to court and see if the judge has more of a holiday spirit, seems the officer doesn't have much. Bah humbug

Did he HAVE to write all those tickets? I think he still could have covered his a$$ by giving a written warning if he HAD to do something other than drive in the opposite direction.

I knew a highway patrol officer here in Abilene that would give his own mother a ticket. Some guys are just like that. I asked him how many tickets he wrote in one day. His record was over 100 in a single day! Seems there was a road closure and people had to detour about 50 miles out of the way on a rural road. Everyone was speeding. He thought it was funny. I bet that guy might get off some on the tickets but I bet he never drives it again on public roads. Lesson learned.

I'm sure a DOT officer would have had a field day on his truck but for a LEO to bother? Doesn't make sense.

This is a perfect example of doing something good and being punished for it, and we wonder why our society is circling the drain.

Amazing.

Don't like the law, change it.

Don't tell a cop not to enforce it.

Cause next you'll be crying about how the cops are acting like judges deciding who to arrest and who not to arrest, oh wait you just told them to do that.

Sounds to me like the goob driving the truck knows the law regarding commercial vehicles but decided it didn't apply to him. He learned otherwise and whatever he was carrying is irrelevant. What if it had been a load of gravel and skids and the trailer broke loose because it was improperly attached and took out a bunch of kids in a school bus?

You'd be looking for a tree to string him up from.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

He said he didn't use the truck for commercial purposes. He wasn't hauling a load of equipment just Christmas gifts.

Might have been a rookie, still wet behind the ears, and having the attitude that he's going to right all the wrongs in the world regardless of any stupidity on his behalf...

Or a burnt out seasoned LEO with a God complex that didn't want that vehicle on "HIS Road or Highway"...DAMHIK
