I love history.
Mopars & anything Alaskan aviation related.
Having two little kids who never got to meet their grandfather try on his airline Captains jacket & hat from the 1950s?
Priceless. Barry I tried to PM you Give me a shout sometime My Dad was a USCG Aviator in AK in the late 40's early 50's he told me some great stories. I am sure you would get a laugh.... Matt

PMs are problematic for me. Can you please email me at sixpak340(insert at symbol here)att.net ? The USCG used the Grumman Goose & the Grumman Albatross in the time period you mention, & the base on Annette Island was within miles of where I was born. I have enough original images to do a DVD on Annette Island Airbase history from before WWII to the time it was closed, but my historical weak spot in images there is the USCG connection after the war. I have some, but not enough & the story needs to be told.

UPDATE - The AAR owner was able to get the engine & both parties are happy. Thanks Morty426! Wow! That's simply awesome. It's a great feeling when you get to help out one of the good guys and the owner of the AAR is one of the good guys. Thanks for making it happen Barry!

It would be sweet if all match ups were this easy.
(it really does appear easy here, a pal knew the car within minutes of the post)
But......
Many more matches are waiting.
Some for cars previously registered & sold, so I do not have any contact information for the new owner.
Some for cars also previously registered, but the people have moved & or changed email address & phone numbers.
Being in any registry is useless to you if you do not keep your contact details current.
Seeing your car has already been registered is also useless to you if you do not contact the registry with your contact information.
Being able to contact the current owner of the car is crucial, especially if an item for the car is for sale.
In that case, the clock is ticking.
I have been at this for over 20 year now & I do get frustrated when something pops up & the car owner can no longer be found.
So.....
For the registries I keep (& for any other registries you may have cars listed with) please do yourself a favor & update your contact info if it changes so you can be contacted when needed?

Thanks, but I was not the only involved here. Nick at pantherpink.com is the one that spotted the car at the show & let me know about it. The guy with the block (Paul) mentioned it in a letter to me about his 1970 Duster 340. Morty426 knew Earl, the AAR owner & set it up so I could get a hold of him. Situations like this & many others in the past are a team effort. If / when something shows up for a specific car & it is known to exist, it this a little easier. I was NOT expecting someone would know that car within minutes of the initial post here, but I also knew we had a lot of CA members. It was worth a shot & it all worked out. Thanks for the help guys, Earl appreciates it!

I spoke with Earl (the car owner) yesterday. He is very appreciative of the effort that everyone put in to make this happen. His Christmas went from good to awesome when I called him and told him that his engine was still alive. He told me what a great person Paul (the guy with engine) was and that he took a trip down to AZ to get it. So in this case everyone is happy. Merry Christmas everyone

Great job Barry!! I have a couple of b cast sheets I need to send you as well. They arrived today, thanks Ray! I had heard about the one that sold in 2015, but the current owner is not a registry member, so I'll use everything you sent in as a future 'Item of the month' feature on the site. The broadcast sheet for the other car is a new number to me. I am working on an update to the 'found' section with more items as time allows today & tomorrow, so the records you sent & more should be listed soon.
