Hi guys I was wondering if everyone offset the seal 3/8 of an inch like it says in the How to rebuild a small block Mopar engine hp books


Please walk me through all your tips and tricks thank you

Hi Ray,
I offset mine the 3/8 or so. High quality rtv - right stuff on ends and a little bead on the each side.

I dont offset them ..just put a dap of rtv where they connect.

I offset one once & it leaked but I very well may have done something wrong. Agreed on a very small drop of sealant on the ends where the ends meet. I like to use some real thin sealant around the OD of the seal itself, permatex 99MA "high tack", is is a very thin tacky spray sealant/glue so I'm very carefull on how I apply it as to not get any of it where it don't belong.

iagree I do that on all of the ones I do, especially with the ones that have the tang on the upper or lower(CRS which one has them realcrazy) part up
