I am currently using a mechanical Hemi pump that has been modified to produce a steady 7 pound of pressure. have been experiencing some issues lately with the sorry gas with ethanol affecting the rubber bladders in mechanical pumps. I try to use 100% Gas when I can find it but it limits my traveling and long cruises some.
What electric pump are you guys using that is reliable on long runs and not so noisy or too loud to interfere with enjoying radio.
I have had Holley's twice and they do not seem to last very long for me.
Using a Carb and not fuel injection and I do not have ability to put a pump inside my tank.

You can never have a pump too large.I use a Magna 500 with built in filter. Noise depends how you mount it.

HEMI-ITIS has no cure.
My condition is fully BLOWN!!

Carter electric pumps are quieter than the Holley, and last a long time, #P4070 is a 7lbs pump, requires no regulator, around 70GPH, have one on my driver Barracuda, I have the Holley black pump on my '70 'Cuda, street/strip car for about 10 years so far.

How about 2 pumps? I use a Carter mech pump on the Cuda for street driving. But it won't feed the Dominator through the gears at the track.

So I installed a Holley pump back by the tank with a micro switch on the carb that is actuated by the lever on the carb's secondaries. I also have a manual override switch under the dash, just in case.

The mech pump pulls through the electric just fine. The electric lasts forever with only intermittent use and I don't have to listen to it running all the time.

I have used this kind of combo on several different cars over the last 30 years or so with no problems.

Similar to DaveRS23 above..... I added an electric pump last year, using the Carter 4600HP rotary vane pump. My car still sees a decent amount of street miles, so I kept the mechanical pump (Carter 6903) and added the electric in series and on a switch. I also ran a bypass line around the electric pump with a one-way check valve, so the mechanical sucks just fine around the electric, then when needed I can switch on the electric. After a season of use, I’d say it works perfectly and was a worthwhile upgrade. The micro switch on the carb is a great idea. I just switch mine on prior to staging as part of my routine at the same time I arm the 2-step.

Dave
That is exactly how I have my car set up. mechanical pump on the motor and Holley Red pump at the rear. Holley is wired to an on off switch. But I don't trust the Holley if the manual pump bladder goes out on a long trip. Maybe I am worrying over nothing.
Really Good idea about the micro switch for the electric pump trigger.

Another Mallory (now owned by MSD) 140 user here.

However, their price has gone up so much over the years since I first bought one that it makes sense to see what else is available that has proven reliability.

I put lots of mile and lots of years on a Holley Blue pump with zero trouble, I only changed it because I went to fuel injection.

Is anybody running an efi pump with a carb? I hear it works well if you use the proper bypass regulator. The in tank Walbro pumps are cheap and supposed to be reliable and I like the idea of in-tank because its quieter and runs cooler.

After 2 MagnaFuel failures, I switched to a Weldon and never looked back.
