My brother piloted my car and got me a 10 second time slip! I kept on tinkerin' with my carbs and loaded it up and we gave 'er a whirl laugh2 netted me a 10.97 @ 122 mph. D/A was 2400. So my question is, how did you feel after your first 10 second pass? laugh2 https://youtu.be/Njgx1qtgu1E

I wasn't surprised as we had put together a M.W. 440 powered Duster to run S/ST back in 1984, it would run 10.60s boogie Once we got the tranny full of fluid it did in Las Vegas at the old track, but that is another story whistling grin

Big congrats! It looks like Your car is fairly heavy? That makes it tough to get to 10.99 up

Very cool!

The first time my Challenger squeaked into the 10s, it ran a 10.97 at 122 (122.5), too.

I remember my first "10". Went 11.20's @ 119 with a 383. Pulled it apart and made no changes except replacing the shortblock with a 440, same heads, mismatched cam and headers and went 10.86 @ 124. I thought the clocks were broke because it didn't feel like it was .35 faster.

Now if you could get it to run only 10.89, that's the typical response from a drag racer.

Thanks folks! The car is heavy. Not sure exactly how heavy but I'm sure it's a sled. The car is a true driver. It is very well mannered like a bone stocker and runs on today's pump puke. It's fast enough for me now and I don't want to tear it up (no rollbar etc). I'm still giggling like a school kid laugh2

Sweet. I don't remember the first 10, but I'll never forget the first 9.

Never went 10's some say around here, went straight to 9's on a shot of primatene mist.LOL.
Congrats because it is rather hard to get such weight in motion to clock those numbers under a diet of today's wanna-b gasoline.

Congrats guy.. that's a sweet car too. What track was that at?? Seems I've seen that car or one like it around NJ area running low 11's. Still haven't got my 10 sec time slip.. hovering 11.2's at 120..Got enough motor just not enough traction..I was gonna start spending more time and $$$ on cal tracks and better tires ,but now I found and bought a 62 , Plymouth 2 dr post and the 56 is up for sale..I'd like to keep it but don't have the room ..

Well done, nice looking car, good effort. I know that elated feeling, my old '69 440 Cuda was running a best of 11.2@118 with stock 906 heads and I was way off the 10.90 index, did nothing else but bolt on some 2.14/1.81 906's that had been mildly ported and went 10.7@124.8 first run, changed classes to S/G with a small shot.
