Lets say I have a freshly built 727, except a billet front drum installed. If I was to purchase the billet front drum and have it installed, is there anything else that would need to be replaced just b/c I am having it installed?

Get the recommended rings that go on the reaction support for the drum you are getting. I use a high pressure valve body (Griner), so I like the teflon rings. But if you get an aluminum drum with no sleeve, teflon might wear it. The teflon rings don't always rotate with the drum, metal rings (various types) have tension to rotate with the drum, but they will wear the ring grooves in the reaction support.

And when changing any hard parts, check the end play and adjust as needed.

And if you use a transbrake, they recommend a tiny bleed hole, either in the front drum, or the piston.

You may have to change the stator support (rear section of the pump that unbolts) cause the billet drums have a wide bushing in them that won't work with the older pumps. I used teflon rings from a 47re on it as well.

Don.

Yes, the '70-older drums/supports use the narrow bushing, the '71-newer use the wide bushing.
