This is what it looks like before you start filling in with RTV. You can't go very deep with the RTV since the intake manifold needs to seal around ports. Not to mention the fact that some intake manifold gasket flanges extend below the deck surface of the head. Correct, some intake manifolds will not work with the batwings I make. I ran into an old tunnel ram that had really large flanges on it that wouldn't fit until the flanges were trimmed down. Once you tip over the first domino in the custom part chain you don't always know where the last domino is going to land....

I just used the factory style pan and the right stuff, no gaskets. painted it with the engine. It has always worked great on any B-RB I've ever had. For non-raised runner heads, that's all I've ever used as well.
