P, i've used the rustoleum hammered paints before, but get mixed results. i have done several wheels that were pitted badly, but turned out pretty good because they were laying flat, and i could lay the paint on in a somewhat controlled manner, getting a uniform pattern. but when i have tried to shoot something like your heater box shown, the pattern seems inconsistent. any tips you can share ? the other item i find is the paint seems kind of "soft", unless it dries for months and months before putting into service. is this normal ?

More than likely you are putting on to thick..but if you put on multi coats it will change the color also.. I like to use 2 coats 3 at max and let each coat dry before adding the next coat.. I've painted my last 3 engines with it and I like the color and the way it comes out... one of the things is the distance you hold the can.. try a couple of different distances to see how it does
