Hey guys,

I've owned my 318 70 Coronet for over 35 years!
Yet I've never noticed this one small detail...

Question: Is the small block engine oil dipstick supposed to have an o-ring near the top like most "modern" cars?

If there is, is there an official mopar part number for it?

If you own a small block and pay attention to little details like this...please chime in

thanks for the ad

Nope, no seal, raw steel dip stick handle was usually painted black, tube would be engine color.

Thinking about this, I suspect the factory would have been concerned that during install the seal would begin to chaff and ultimately be a debris concern in the pan, particularly if the entire seal were to drop in
Just a hunch
