My car had 8 stainless capped 3/8 bolts with black phosphate coated captive washer nuts holding the facebar to the bumper brackets, is this correct? I thought they used a separate washer and lockwaser with a plain nut till later years, plus were the lower 2 inner bolts the same, as the hole-slot is way bigger.

back to the original question about bolts.

Do you mean bolting the chrome bumper to the brackets?

Or bolting the brackets to the body of the car?

The reply was about bolting the brackets to the car.

If bolts that connect the bumper bracket to the body, they are 7/16-14 x 1.30" hex head SEMS bolts with captive washer, paint cutter and pilot point.

I mean bolting the chrome facebar to the bumper brackets, I know the brackets bolt to the frame with captive washer bolts. My question is do the 3/8 stainless cap bumper bolts use a captive washer nut, or a flatwasher, then a lockwasher, and a plain nut.

The 3/8-16 x 1" bolts (p/n 6026723) are fastened with a 0.82" OD flat washer (p/n 6025269 /zinc finish), then a lock washer (p/n 123920 w/phosphate finish) and a plain hex nut (p/n 118615 w/phosphate finish)
