the 1971 440 6bbl Fury GT was cancelled - do you KNOW for a fact any were built?

I tend to agree with you Dan. That would also be good explanation for why Dan C's two early promo 71s were both T code 71s, rather than U code cars like the rest of the 71s. ..."Well if we are going to cancel the V code 71s (we only sold 61 last year anyway) lets go ahead and upgrade the 4bbl cars from T to U for 71....." imaginary conversation from the top floor guys at Chry/Ply...

Billy: The reason that Dan Corley's two(and probably even more than those) were built as T code cars was BECAUSE the V code option was still available until the end of August of 1970(the cancellation date for any 1971 V code Sport Fury's). Whether any were actually built is probably still unknown, but the fact that they WERE a legitimate option, and the striping for them is in any 1970-71 parts book, proves that they were known to be available, even if it was only for a month.
The T and V codes were both carry overs from the 1970 model year. As of Sept. 1, 1970, both were discontinued and the U code replaced them. At least these facts, along with actual part numbers for striping, etc. are in your parts book. More than can be said for a 70 Hurst convertible.

I think there are rarer C-bodies built than what's been listed. I think there's been too much emphasis on sportier models when I think the rarest would be the lesser trim levels and/or more pedestrian body styles.

Back in the early 90's, Jim Manning Chrysler Dodge in Dinuba California had a gold 300L convertible 4-speed combo on their used car lot. Pretty sure there were not too many of those. The 413 had been replaced with a 440, so I passed the opp to purchase.

Well, you're comparing bodystyle/engine/tranny and adding a vinyl top? Not quite an apples to apples comparison.

Anyway, here's a quick view of some of the rarest in the White Book:

1968 Sport Fury ragtop "regular" 440: 2
Same with 383-2 and 3-speed: 4

1968 Fury III with 383-2 and 3-speed: 4

1968 Fury II 2-door sedan 440HP: 3
Same with 383-4 and 4-speed: 4
Same with 383-2 and 3-speed: 3

1968 Fury I with 383-4 and 4-speed: 3

I had a 1968 Chrysler Town and country long roof. Was loaded to the hilt. 440, had rear A/C, rear facing seat, factory dual exhaust, stereo tape player, auto pilot, tilt and tele column, power EVERYTHING, roof rack! Can't be many like that produced.

So there is no breakdown of the 69 Polara 500 convertible with a 383 and 3-speed on the tree, I almost bought one for the pedals. The car was a driver and it ended up driving down to Florida from Illinois. If someone has the breakdown of the 69 Polara's and Monaco's lets see it! scope

Currently the updated White Book is 1966-68. I've never seen any 1969 numbers.
