I have a pair of these that have had on the shelf for a number of years. Thinking about putting them in my Cuda. Anyone have any info about these that you would like to share? These are the "old" part number for the green bearings. Have heard some people have trouble with these....thanks

The load carrying capability of the stock Timken tapered bearings is far superior. When these non adjustable bearings came out years ago, they made it seem like the stock bearing adjustment was such a pain to do. It isn't difficult, even for a novice.

Snap-ring or crimped on flanges?
I've had trouble with the latter.

My thoughts exactly.

Seems most of the issues arise from individuals who lack the mechanical experience/knowledge to perform this task, often along with the lack of proper equipment to remove/press bearings, be it Green or factory tapered, hence: installation error

I've been using nothing but Green bearings for the last 3 decades+ on my cars or customers builds, ZERO issues, I still run a set I installed on my Challenger T/A almost 30-35 years ago, tens of thousands of street miles, street/drag racing and road course, HotRod Power Tours, cross country events/shows with all my toys running Green bearings

Almost every vehicle manufactured in the last 2+ decades runs on ball bearings

And, for the most part, the appeal of the Greens is to those individuals who are too lazy or too lame to properly adjust the tapered bearings.

Well John, I'm neither lazy nor do I lack the knowledge to properly adjust the tapered bearings. I use the green bearings. Maybe you should refrain from painting everyone who prefers to do something different with such a broad brush. tsk

same set of green bearing are in our dart that we installed in the 90's. lots of beatings over the years.

talking with dr diff not all that long ago (who many here respect and worship) and he sells a ton of green bearings. he says they are very strong and will hold up just fine.

not sure why this thread was even started.. could have done a search and came up with a thousand threads on this subject. the same guys like and use them and the same grumpy haters don't like them and will insult everyone that uses them.. some things never change.

It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

You couldn't pay me to use green bearings. Chrysler put the best axle bearings in there, why get rid of them? So easy to adjust them, but folks make it harder than it is.

I was helping a guy on the phone, he had .010 clearance, but since it has that on both side then it is .020! Oh brother, creating a problem.

You'll notice I said "for the most part". Maybe you should give us a lengthy dissertation on why you prefer them. Might make some converts.

Well, it's hard to put Jeep rear discs on without green bearings. Maybe you could machine out the center hole to fit the adjuster, but I dunno if it'd have enough meat left.
