Does anyone have experience with safely boring a T/A block more than 0.060 over? I have one who's sonic testing is good but has been sitting and the cylinder walls are very pitted.

I believe the question for you is, how will the sonic test be after boring to remove the pitting?

T/A blocks are not falling out of trees. Especially if the car it belongs to still exists.

In this age of custom pistons any bore size is available as long as rings exist for the size. Meaning if it needed to go 0.017 over there's no reason to go another 0.020. 4.117? Easy as asking Summit...https://www.summitracing.com/parts/slp-e-297x60/overview/

I would be shocked if it would even make a .060. I had a ta block at .030 and it sonic tested so bad, I was afraid to go .060. They are not any thicker than a regular 340. No way would I go .080. I've had a regular 340 pinhole at .060. Good luck with it.

If it's a numbers matching deal sleeve it. If you just want to use it for a street or race engine sell it to the resto crowd and get another block.

Great advice and what I should have said in the beginning.

It's a pity that this block has a stouter bottom end than a regular 340 but what you gonna do? It's worn out.

8 sleeves are really not that expensive. The TA block is expensive.

iagree I'd sleeve the bad holes and keep the rest at either .030" or .040" max overbore if possible. Sell the T/A block to someone restoring one of those cars. twocents

What is the VIN number on the block? A lot of AAR & TA owners are looking for there original engines.
I'm still looking for mine. it's a needle in a haystack but you never know.

Thanks to everyone for the input!

There is no VIN on the block. It is a replacement block.

Thanks again
