I would use that in a heartbeat Have fun degreeing the cam I was hoping someone would say that! I'll use a Ramchargers one on my Hemi & this Dovovan one in the Runner, both were made by Donovan & they still make replacement part which fit both!

Are those fiberglass genders from the dealer? Nope, genuine Mopar stamped steel. Still have the bill somewhere.

Have fun degreeing the cam LOL !! I had one and was bound and determined to use it ... till I tried degreeing the cam. I'm no quitter but I finally threw in the towel on that one and sold the unit. If they'd make the idler gear the same size as the crank gear it wouldn't be a problem but they're not. And the marks are on the three gears, not just the crank and cam. So when you turn the motor over you loose all reference. That seemed to be my problem anyway. But I don't think a gear drive was a "day 2" mod in anyone's budget unless you had a pro stocker.

Make sure you stick some white lights w/toggle on the dash mounted down on the back of the traction bars or hook a toggle to the reverse lights so you can cruise with them on meaning you are looking for a race. Never heard that before. We always just stopped at McDonalds till they asked us to leave. Must have been because we did't buy any food. LOL

I've installed and use Donovans, Milidons and Keith Black gear drives on 426 hemi and B and RB wedge motors with instructions and by memory. Start with the cam dowel placed around 4 o clock by looking at the front of the motor and go from there. If the lifters are close to being even heights in the lifter bores your close Once I have it where I want the intake lobe center I mark all three gears with matching mark with a drimel tool

Never heard that before. We always just stopped at McDonalds till they asked us to leave. Must have been because we did't buy any food. LOL Most cars rode around with the reverse lights on because you usually couldn't reuse the back drive linkage from the column with an aftermarket shifter. The column collar was left in the reverse position so that you could turn the key to lock and get the key out. When we saw a car go by with the reverse lights on, we'd say "there goes another Hurst shifter"

In Hindsight, I would mark the cam and crank gears and forget about the idler gear even being there. That's what was throwing me off. And I had no instructions for the set I had.

I would use that in a heartbeat Have fun degreeing the cam Degreeing cams is easy. Put cam in, and find intake lobe max lift (Centerline.) Lock cam in position, or at least mark the cam gear to block position. Install degree wheel, find TDC, and zero degree wheel. Rotate crank so degree wheel reads the installed centerline you want. Install timing chain or idler gear without moving cam or crank position. Done.

You're deviating so far from "day 2" stuff you may as well back half the car, put a full cage in it, gut the interior and throw a new paint job on it !!
