Any issues out there with comp cams hydraulic roller lifters for a Big block. Went to order some from comp cams, still have a list of back orders to fill. Also did some reading were they had to make a new style because of problems a few years ago.

I had a set that would not pump up on the dyno. Changed over to Crane and all was good. At the time Comp admitted they had some problems.

What's the longevity of these aftermarket rollers? Seems a few years ago guys were saying to replace them every so often.

I'd like to go roller on my big block, but not unless the lifters are capable of 250k+ miles like the oem magnum small block lifters.

I went with Howards hydraulic rollers.

A friend had Comps in his Dart and wasn't happy with them. Swapped to Howards and no issues.

I can't say how many miles they will last, but mine has 3,000 last summer and lots of dragstrip passes. They are limited to 6500 rpm, BTW.

I have Comps in my street engine and haven't had any issues with them but other people have said they have issues. Last time I talked to Brian at IMM he was recommending getting lifters from Gaterman but I haven't done that yet. Morel is highly recommended by folks also.

They caused my oil pressure to drop and would constantly collapse and cause my pushrods to pop out.
Switched to Howard's (made by Morell, I believe) and all my problems went away. CC lifters are complete junk as far as I am concerned.

I think that the troublesome Comps were johnsons--I had some terrible issues with plungers sticking--push rods jumping out--Morels have been trouble free All of them that are not Johnsons just about have to be Morels There may be another maker but...I don't know of any--Cranes first ones were fantastic but after I used a set or two Crane went bust then it was a long wait until they were being sold again etc --I have qut using hyd rollers--the weight is fearsome in a Mopar application and since they got the oil deal figured out I am back to flat tappets and love the price and simplicity
The BEST tool any builder can buy is the ball broach lifter tools sold by Goodsons--you hammer that ball in the lifter bore and slide hammer it back out--It straightens the lifter bores--sizes them and corrects the 'curl over" on top and bottom of the bores after Ampro shot blast and cleaning--That tool is a miracle and just about cures 90% of lobe/lifter trouble
The balls wear out so use WD40 when doing it and replace the ball before it starts to drop in every block you check LOL

So when running hydraulic rollers what is everybody doing about intermediate shaft gears on the street? My buddy has had NO luck using bronze alloy gears on the street, he just towed his Charger home 6 months ago because his intermediate shaft gear wiped AGAIN. It's set up with a button/ torrington bearing. Don't get it.

We called about the composite intermediate shaft gear, the tech line said NOT a street gear either.

Electric fuel pump is the bailout there? No idea how guys run big miles on the street with bronze alloy intermediate shafts. My buddy's Charger has his fail after 3000 miles. Tow truck and handpalm when he saw what was left of the gear. Shrapnel has to be going somewhere.....
