904 is leaking badly where shifter cables enter trans. Does any one make or sell these cables? This is for a 65 valiant

This would be so much easier if I knew what I was doing...

Is it leaking out of the shifter cable sheath or the O rings around the tranny bungs? If the sheath you might be able to fix that with a piece of Viton fuel line hose slipped over the skinny end long enough to cover the bad part of the cable housing and then use screw type hose clamps on each end work shruggy
It has been done that way more than once shruggy

it looks like it leaks where the cable goes into the tranny

There is an oring that seals that and can be replaced.

Don't be the exception.

i have also installed "marine grade" heat shrink tubing [with the adhesive] on the cable sheath. that guards against leaks getting past the o-rings.

There are two types of shift cable leaks, either the O ring or tears in the rubber sheath surrounding the cable housing. Heat shrink works fine for damaged sheath (the fluid level in the cable housing is the same as on the dipstick) but is useless for O ring leaks.

john, you are correct. i just misspoke, as i was referring to leaks that occur past the o-rings. the o-rings must be in good condition or leaks will develop. i was only referring to a cure for the cable leak. sorry if this mislead anyone.

Thanks for the tips guys. As soon as the weather breaks again I'll check the O rings to see how they are. I'm guessing they are 50 years old.
