No, they don't build cars. Few can actually build cars of that caliber. They are like most hotrodders, maybe assemble their own motors and such, but NO, they don't BUILD cars. Been to Midwest several times and most of the "work" they do for the outside world would be dyno tuning. Usually always a couple cars there they are running on the chassis dyno for somebody. And maybe some light chassis setup, but thats about it. The only REAL fabricator in the bunch is Lutz. Goad(Reaper) owns Dirt Road Customs and they build some pretty high level Pro Touring type stuff and do most everything on HIS cars other than actual chassis building. Light fab, interior, tubs, wiring, plumbing, that type stuff they can do. Nearly every car on the show at this point though is a pro built ride.

Don Dial.......Murder Nova plus the old and new Crow
Terry Murphy........Daddy Dave, Monza, the Crowmod
Bob Mandell.........Doc
G&S Fab.......Derrick
Dominator builds all his own stuff, as well as some work for the other guys.
Chris Terry and some others...........Reaper
Ryan, the guy who drives the Fireball Camaro has a pretty high level operation. Not sure who built car though.

People can say what they want about Gas Monkey. But they bought a used chassis, skinned a new Challenger and put it on there. Put a screw blown Hemi in it, made it run and go down the track. They are not idiots. Sure, they likely brought in outside help, but who wouldn't need to. People like Dave Kindig build some of the nicest stuff on the planet. If he was building that Challenger, he would need help, as that isn't in his wheelhouse

Now what wasn't shown on TV, is that Richard buys a used bare chassis. Then Laughlin shows up to "help" and has a rear with 4 link bars, wishbone, shocks etc, plus a rack, struts, wheels and it all bolts right on. Obviously they bought a complete roller sans body panels from somebody, probably Laughlin, because it was a Pro Stock chassis, but that wouldn't make as good TV...........LOL!!!!

If it is an old Pro Stock chassis it's real old. They were talking about making it a double frame rail car. I can't think of the last time I looked at a PS car that wasn't double frame railed but it had to be the late 90's.

Depends on what you call "double rail". The chassis pictured above does have some bars that come from 4-link cross member to floor about mid way of trans. And many are still that way. Pro-Mods have a double rail that come from top 4-link bar to bars on either side of midplate. Chassis shown is not very old

Didn't Laughlin say he was going to add the double bars?

Yes he did, but you can plainly see in the pic above the bars I am talking about. That's a fairly recent Pro-Stock chassis. For the power they intend to put in it, or did, it needs to be a true double rail car and he said that.

Modern Pro-Stock cars are still somewhat flexible in the middle. They are not near as stiff as Pro-Mods. They want a little give. I have personally never seen a true double rail Pro Stocker, unless it was an IHRA car
