Looking for a little help with the size and shape

1) Appears from the photo attached (originally posted by Barry) some time back the rubber block on the end of the cable is a "D" shape?? Can someone with an original confirm?

2) What is the length, width, and depth (if D shape, diameter with and without the flat)

3) Also looking to get the negative cable Dia.

Thanks in advance

Edited to remove the pic

SO is the rubber actually formed in a D or does it form that way over time due to the way it is bolted to the head and the heat or is does it form that way due to the lug/terminal that is crimped on the wire have a flat back with the crimping arms creating the circular part?

Let me try this another way,

Anyone with pics of survivor AAR's or T/A's that can show the connection of the negative cable to the block, please post photos. Hopefully these pics will substantiate the rubber insulator block on the negative line, then we can address dimensions

Thanks

So now that the piece in question is established, does anyone have an original that they can provide dimensions on?

Hi,

Not all negative battery cables on 340+6 cars had this rubber protection on them.. BUT many did from factory.. thats what my researched showed.

Thanks
Nicklas

Thanks Nicklas, I was curious about that, so has anyone managed to link this configuration to a SPD?
Or is it a difference of suppliers feeding the line?

For something that was supposed to be so prevalent information on this topic is almost impossible to find.

Well it's nice to see that nothing has changed sense I've been gone. Wow.

The photo above is correct for a T/A and the bolt is correct as well. I had the same on my 32k mile T/A. Also note the lack of overspray orange paint on it as well.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

Troy welcome back, I've seen photos floating around of the T/A you did, very nice work.
Could I ask how you did the rubber insulator on the negative cable? It didn't appear to be an original piece or am I mistaken and the difference I see is between new and used?
Do you recall what dimensions the original had?
Perhaps you even still have it?
