Thanks for providing the pics and updates Brian. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about the new motor. For those interested in the cam specs, we're re-using the solid roller that Dwayne spec'd for the former combo with 1.5 rockers. Cam card reads: Gross valve lift - .631 int, .631 exh Valve timing at .050- int open 26 btdc, close 58 abdc, exh open 68 bbdc, close 20 atdc. These specs are for cam installed at 106.0 intake centerline Duration at .050 - 264 int, 268 exh Lobe lift - .421 int, .421 exh Lobe separation - 110.0 With the 1.7 rockers, it takes the cam to .7157 gross lift. We've talked alot about it, and while the cam is not perfect for the combo, Brian feels it will work well enough to reach our goals for the motor this time around. We're using Brian's offset roller lifters with pushrod oiling. I've been working on updating the engine bay a bit as well in the down time. Had the down bars re-done and changed the motor plate mounting. Have one of AndyF's motor plates coming as well. Also re-doing trans lines, master cylinder to junction block routing and fuel lines. Re-doing all the engine bay wiring as well. Oh yeah, re-painting the engine bay also. When it goes back together, it will also have a CSR shield and trans brake. Did I mention I'm excited?

I think that cam is fine with your new combo. It should work really well IMO. Especially with the 1.7 rockers and new heads. With the extra comp, and combo you are going to have a monster in your hands. I look forward to your new Best ETS. mike

Using the 1.7's, do you think you will have to clearance the heads?
Probably, but I'm not really sure what to expect. I'll post whatever I do so others can see.
We might be testing a couple different intakes too! Brian
I can pretty much guarentee the pushrod holes will need to be enlarged for the 1.7:1 ratio rockers. I was concerned about the side-to-side clearance, but the clearance towards the center of the head got me, and that was with 1.6:1 ratio T&D rockers. Only difference may be my engine is a 400 "B" block stroked to 500 cid, the taller "RB" should not have as much angle on the pushrods as the "B" block?
I don't have the funds to dyno the engine right now, I just droped $2,000 on transmission parts so I can get this project back together and running, but my combination is very simular, 264/264 @ 0.050" Comp HXL cam with 0.714"/0.714" lift, 112 LSA installed at 108. 12.4:1 CR, MW Victors with just the ports cleaned up and a good valve job, Indy Intake and 1,000 cfm 4150 HP carb. I'm hoping to get 700 HP, and a bunch of torque out of this thing. I know with a bigger carb and cam it should be capable of way more power, 750+?

Should make 720 pretty easily. Brian you said you were gonna bore it to 4.400 and I went but then I saw it was a Mega-block Actually that combo is very similar to my 517, I've probably got just a little more head but less lift (Hydraulic roller), compression and .200-up duration. Like you the Super Vic looks a little small to me and I might look at the Indy 4500 single instead. Are you going with a 2.25" valve? Looks great!!!

Hey G-Bob, got any pictures/updates. Are you sure you are ready for the new mill? I think its gonna be night and day over your old combo. I say 736 hp. Thats my guess and im sticking to it. Brians got a nice DTS dyno and from my experiance with dynoes, they seem to be a conservative/truthful dyno. Are you going to MATS?

Wize, we are sticking with the 2.200 valve for now. Glenn's goal is to be able to run 9's, but will back it down and run low 10's because he has no plans to do the diaper thing. So I feel we can get there with the supplied valves and save a little coin. Bryan, I have pics, and like a dummy, I forgot my camera at work again. So I'll post them tomorrow nite. But to hold you over, I have flow #'s in case your into that kind of thing... Edelbrock Victor MW heads OOTB vs. IMM valve job: lift int. int. 200 144 148 300 212 222 400 262 276 500 289 310 600 323 331 700 336 338 After Bracket style porting: lift int. ex. .200 158 133 .300 234 184 .400 287 223 .500 326 251 .600 348 270 .700 356 284 Ex. was flowed with a 2 1/4 Pipe. This is on a 4.35 bore at 28" of depression. There is more left in there, but the port speed at .600 if very good, and that's where we'll be accessing flow. So instead of going for the glory at .700 lift, when we're running .690 at the valve, I think this port will serve this engine build best. I'm pretty sure there's 375cfm in this port, maybe more with a larger valve. At least on my bench. I'll have a bunch of pics of the engine coming together, rockers on the heads, and stuff like that tomorrow nite. Brian

I expect you will get at least 355 cfm.
Looks like my guess was very close.
Like you said, with more porting you might be able to get more, but you got what you got, 356 at 0.700"

Hey Bryan, I'm doing my part while Brian is working on the motor. As said, I had the down bars and motor plate mounts re-done. Now I'm cleaning it up. Prep'ed it last night and painted it tonight. Here's some pics. Before:

We're planning on taking it to MATS, but don't know how dialed in it will be. Still have to re-do the fuel and trans lines, and engine-bay wiring. Should finish that up on Saturday.
Going out to Brian's on the 26th for the dyno and will bring the motor home then. Looking to test at the fontana street legal day on the 7th.
We'll see how "ready" I am then. I have a CSR shield to put on when the motor and trans go back in. Will be looking to add window net soon as well. Then chassis cert, diaper, ....
That's after I get kicked off for the first time of course.

It's good to dream, right?
I'll most likely have lots of tuning to do to just get there.
