1st me start off with Happy New year to everyone.
I got a practice tree for Christmas and was wondering how to find out how much roll out does the average track have
71 demon stock stroke 440/indy ez-1 running 10.10 @ 132.14 mph in the 1/4 and 6.36 @ 107.46 mph in the 1/8 not in the same weekend but It did it then I sold it. 67 Belvedere that worked it's way in the 10's

Typical rollout for a car like shown in your picture....30-.34 X2. I use .32 and it seems good. Add .04 If you have one with incandescent bulbs like the Finish Line II

Am I wrong about this.....? Rollout has little to do with the lights, as there is an NHRA standard for where they are (there may be slight variances); and everything to do with the diameter of tire on your car, and how your car moves it through the beam.
I feel the best way to use a practice tree is to use it to hone your ability to move your light. I.E.: hit a certain number a few times, say .030, then back it off to .060..... then down to really tight or red, and so-on.

Woodburn for example is always about .020 faster than any other track in D6. Obviously the beams there are closer together than some other tracks, but still within spec for NHRA. Your way of using the practice tree is also not generally advisable for most people. Hit the tree the same every single time, and make adjustments to the car to speed up or slow down reaction time. OP, depending on the practice tree, you should be in the .320-.340 range.

I've used two or three different practice trees in my life, I wouldn't waste my time or money on them I look at practice trees like no motion flight simulators, it ain't real so why confuse your mind by practicing on something that isn't real Nothing is better than real world racing as practice, but they are far from a waste. They allow you to teach yourself to "react", and nothing more. It made a significant difference for me, so I hope everyone else follows your opinion and throws them in the trash. Self confidence can be learned by many different ways, practice trees may be one of those that work for you

It's winter time I'm bored besides I got it as a Christmas gift.
I think she giving me hints I need to do better at the track because when I come home early it's a battle for the remote control Lol

Self confidence can be learned by many different ways, practice trees may be one of those that work for you I guess, but I'd venture to say you'd be hard-pressed to find any serious racer who doesn't have one. You don't get better hitting the tree without practice. Biggest thing it helped me get over was my nerves engaging when the lights start to come down. Once I saw amber I'd lose focus

Guaranteed you'll react to the light better after practice. Like Monty says, the number doesn't really matter. When you can hit the pro and full tree with the same roll out you're in the ballpark. As you practice you'll get quicker until eventually you level out. Then adjust the car accordingly when you get to the track. It helped me tighten up my best to worse R/T's at the track by about 50. Also those random .060-.090 R/T are gone. I foot brake so the button is not at all like the car, still helps. Doug

Another thing about the practice tree is the button I'm leaning towards adding a brake so need to get use to that

As mentioned earlier, the actual numbers are not as important as consistency. After a while, you can adjust the practice tree closer to what you get reacting to an actual tree. But the practice does help develop a rhythm that usually translates to the real world. I've seen the difference in my consistency on the track after practicing, even though I footbrake but practice with a button!
There are places that vary from lane to lane, track to track and timing systems used as well! (Ask Beard.) Even rubber build-up and/or "crown" in the track surface can affect rollout. "You" have to get consistent and somewhat predictable first. Then you will be able to start making mechanical adjustments to the car to compensate for the changes between lanes/tracks. (and adjust the practice tree for representative RT's.) I've run anywhere from 25 lbs to 50 lbs of air in my front tires between certain tracks! Then there is always stage/launch rpm's, bumping, etc.
