A shame to see one get snuffed into the wall. The engine rebuild will cost more than the body work.

Please fill me in as to why these SS/AH cars haven't been reclassified??? Top dog in the shootout is 93 in the SS field? 15 shootout-SS/AH cars FAILED to qualify for the US Nationals.

Tell your Dad thank you as well.
New business. NHRA D4 is having a national open on Nov 18 & 19. Record runs, grade point and class eliminations. Let's call it the WHO DAT CHOOTOUT for now so mark your schedule. So far the purse is already $2500 so let's get them crankshafts and valves back in and plan on coming down. Sea level in November, are you kidding me. My junk is in Arlington Monday for upgrades. A bracket race? Really? Last time I checked, which has been about 50 something times now, the U.S. Nationals is about the farthest thing you could get from a bracket race. Do you really think a guy with a $100,000 drag car wants to pay all that money for entry fees and travel and on and on to NOT qualify? More than half the cars in the field didn't qualify for the race! Do you think that's fair to the SS/AH guys? NHRA needs to re-think what it takes to make these cars run that fast. The need to soften the index where the slower SS/AH cars can qualify for the biggest drag race of all time. Super Stock eliminator is exactly a bracket race, unless you come up against a car in the same class, then it's heads up.

The only thing about the Nationals that's not a bracket race is class run offs.

Results for the second round of the Hemi Shootout at Maple Grove Raceway :
Wendell Howes .313 reaction, 11.568 seconds, 77.72 mph - WIN Bucky Hess - disqualified
Jimmy Daniels .074, 8.288, 160.54 - WIN Gary Wolkwitz -.060, 8.356, 156.84 - red light start
Steve Comella ..039, 8.442, 145.89 - WIN Bye Run
Although this is an unofficial explanation, I was told that the disqualification for Bucky Hess had to do with his staging. Apparently he decided that he was staged crooked after he had entered the pre-stage beam and then backed up. As the explanation continued, it seems that you cannot back out of a pre-stage beam without the direction of the starter. Only the starter can authorize a racer backing out of a pre-stage beam.
I hope this explanation is accurate and correct.
