If you mean the cross bar that has the D ring welded to it I put it that way because the two arms sticking out are angle iron,I did think about notching the angle so that I could put it on the underside but was in a hurry to get it done so that I could get the motor out,had a guy on the way to get it.
who is that guy?

Duh! I didn't even think about turning the angle and drilling the holes in the other side.
I was in this huge hurry, then the guy never showed.
who is that guy?

This is the one we made. The only thing I would recommend for anyone making one of these is steal your bottle jack out of your dodge ram and install in under the engine somewhere. I welded a socket on the end of the jackcrank and use my impact gun to bring the jack up and down. It works great at getting just the right angle.

Yeah I see what I did, should have put those pieces on the opposite sides,or as you guys are trying to get through to me :-) Flip it upside down and bolt it back on with a new D ring,I will probably do that.
Thx for pointing out what should have been the obvious.

I built it off of a store bought one a friend had and then loaned it to TX9Cuda and he made the plans when I ask for measurements for AAR1064 while he had it. Not that any of that is important. :-)
It has all the measurements and sizes and can be built for about $50 worth of steel.

My pleasure, I have also used it as a break in stand using a stationary core support and securing the stand.

Mopar346, those plans are a near identical copy of the US Cartool design. Did you dimension from one of those? Thought the same thing... identical..

Mopar346, those plans are a near identical copy of the US Cartool design. Did you dimension from one of those? Actually never put a tape measure to anything but I did have a picture of a friends store bought one, I think I bought a 10 ft stick of the base tube and did the math to make it work to the best advantage and minimal excess. I build a lot of stuff by seeing something in someone's shop and thinking I need one but since I am notoriously cheap I built it myself and a lot of times out of scrap. I have an outside rotisserie for blasting the bottom of cars that is based on 2 4X6s planted in the ground, I'm sure I saw the basic design somewhere and then used a little thought to built it to suit my purpose. As mentioned I use it as a break in stand as well, I have a Camaro core support bolts to a 2X4 strapped between 2 post in my shop with an aluminum radiator of unknown origin with a 79 4WD Dodge upper hose and a Cuda lower, wired and gauged with what I had lying around. I strap the stand between 4 post with tie down straps from my car trailer. I don't have plans for that but I could probably get that drawn up too.
