I am working on the bucket seats for my '69 Barracuda. The adjustable headrests originally had a chrome trim strip around them, but they are now just grey. I bought some new plastic chrome strips to put on, but I can't see how to remove the old ones. The new ones have an adhesive backing, so I assume the old ones do too. They are stuck on so good that the vinyl cover starts to rip before the glue lets go, even after applying heat. Am I missing something??? Any advice?

Strange. Typically when I run across them in wrecking yards the chrome band is baked and about ready to fall off by itself.

Maybe call or e-mail Dennis and see how he gets them off?

Just have Dennis do the job. You would be better off. He has trick to getting them perfect. I`ve seen many try & fail. I always send him my headrests & they come out mint!!!
