What's the blue for the SB engines? Where can I get it?

Which year and motor size are you wanting the proper engine color for?

Mid 70's I guess. I bought a motor that was rebuilt w/o timing chain cover, water pump and valve covers and I'd like to match the color. It's definitely not turquoise. I read a few blurbs about small block colors and how they changed and were specific to certain years and body styles and how blue changes to turquoise when heated. The guy from whom I bought the motor was a stickler for details. Unfortunately, he doesn't know his own name now and I lost that opportunity to find out.

I'm going to say that 1971 was the change over year Mopar went from the earlier colors on all the SB to blue, not turquoise
BTW, I've used most of the popular engine brand paints and I have not seen or heard of the original Mopar green, turquoise engine paint, turning to blue when heated

Call totally auto. They have the best period correct paint.

Mopar stuff is "Chrysler Blue # P4349217 from Mancini. The Dupli-color # DE1631 Chrysler Blue. Both are very close in color. IMO, the Dupli-color is better paint. Good to 500*F.

Everybody knows Mopar engines should be painted Hemi Orange.

Black for sure in my case since all my builds leak.

I dont care for the Mopar paint.. too many cans
wont spray and it takes too many coats to cover..
I use Rustoleom gloss black on all of mine

Ya, think it might have something to do with shelf life.

Sure make buying engine paint easier.

This will make a few of you scream foul, for orange I use new Kubota orange alkyd enamel, haven't had a mopar guy call me on the color yet.
