I had 2 '72 340 Dusters, both had drum.
The '72 window sticker has a high serial number. It's possible (pure speculation) that late in the '72 production run there were more disc spindles in stock than drum. Maybe Chrysler was trying to use up the extra disc spindles by making them std on the late production '72 340 models. Both spindles were not needed for '73 production as the drum and disc spindles were different along with the upper A-arm.
edit; RAII, you not doing yourself any favors with your sig line. I am looking for concrete answers .... As far as my sig line , PM me I will explain.... Barry Washington --- Your thoughts and remarks are not welcome on my posts. Thanks in advance. Well, it is concrete that some '72 340 Dusters came std with drums. My first '72 had drums and I bought it new. BTW, just because something is std doesn't mean it can't be deleted. A cigar lighter was std but could be deleted. The window sticker on my car showed a $4.00 credit for the delete.

I also own a 1971 Duster 340 with non power drum brakes and for years I thought that if it was a Factory 340 car that it had to have disc (power or not) It is now evident that is not the case .... The OP doesn't want Barry's help for some reason, so don't link to Barry's site to try and help him out. The link is fine by me .... It is his personal opinion and remarks I do not want on my post. Barry Washington --- Your thoughts and remarks are not welcome on my posts. Thanks in advance.

Thanks branded for the link .... I still seems that at one point in 1972 disc brakes were standard then at another point in 1972 they were optional....

What seems to be on that site is Factual .... "Seems" factual ? Of course it is factual. (We are talking scanned original documents here) As said, you don't deserve his help or the information he has amassed.

I had a '72 Demon 340. It had 10" manual drum brakes. It was a pretty bare bones car, column shift auto, bench seat and rallye wheels were about it.

It's not his signature. He's actually typing that on every post he makes. Please use the ignore feature and block Barry if you don't want to see what he posts. If you keep trying to be confrontational like this, I'll give you some time off from posting, because what you are doing is not "between us," with regard to you and Barry. I'd normally address this via PM, but since you have chosen to make a public spectacle of the issue on 2 occasions now (the first being your hijacking of someone else's thread), I figured that replying in public was appropriate.
